Painting With Luminosity Masks
Luminosity masks have four main uses, and one of those is to allow us to paint in effects within our image in a very detailed and controlled manner. This tutorial uses two luminosity masks combined with Dodge & Burn layers to do some dodging and burning in some sand to create additional contrast.
This is only an example of how a luminosity mask can be used in this way. You can use this method with any type of adjustment layer giving you control fine control over any area of your image such as contrast, colour, saturation, exposure, etc.
The key to understanding how effective it can be is to experiment. I hope you enjoy this video, and I would like to hear any feedback you may have.
