Colour Masks are an alternative method to Luminosity Masks for creating powerful selections in Photoshop. In the Channels palette of Photoshop are the Red, Green and Blue channels for each image. These channels are used in order to create the initial selection of the Red, Greens and Blues. Using these selections ADPpanel+Pro has also created Cyans, Magentas, Yellows and Oranges.
When one of these is selected a mask is created that looks like a Luminosity Mask, but it’s a mask based on the amount of that colour within each pixel in the image. The lighter an area appears in the mask the more of that colour exists in those pixels, the darker the area the less that colour exists in the pixels. You have complete control over the modification of these masks, to create any mask you desire just as you do with the Lights and Darks Luminosity Masks. These masks are a great alternative to Luminosity Masks for making selections and give you additional options in the event you can’t create the mask you require with Luminosity Masks.
The video below will cover how the Colour Masks section of the panel works.
